Why don't pitchers throw the knuckleball anymore? #mlb #knuckleball #pitching #baseball - YouTube

The knuckleball is considered to be the hardest pitch to hit in baseball. So, why isn't anyone throwing it? When you throw a baseball, you put a spin on the ball. This spin causes the air to move around the ball in a predictable way, allowing a pitcher to choose if the ball will fall directly down or move to the left or right. A well-thrown knuckleball has no spin at all. When a pitch has no spin, the air passing around the ball will be able to nudge the ball unpredictably on its way to the plate. This makes it almost impossible to predict where the ball will go. This is bad for the batter, but also bad for the pitcher. If the ball doesn't dance, it becomes an absolute meatball for the batter due to the slower speed. In the end, the knuckleball is a double-edged sword. It's unpredictable, uncontrollable, and downright maddening for everyone involved. So, maybe that's why we don't see it much anymore. But when it works, it's pure magic.
