The Surprising Reason the Brewers Keep Winning #baseball - YouTube

I've spent the past six weeks studying the Brewers to learn why they are winning so much and what I've found is almost contradictory of what I thought. And they've summed it up quite nicely in their "200 Club" motto, which I'll explain later. One thing that makes the Brewers fascinating is their wins to payroll. While most of the winning teams also have the highest payroll, the Brewers aren't even close to having the highest payroll. They're actually closer to the bottom than the top, which sort of makes them the underdog, which makes them all the easier to root for. They have a run differential of +167, meaning they scored 167 more runs than they've given up, which is where their winning is really coming from. So why are they winning? They honestly found the answer in what they are not leading in. Kind of. They are nowhere close to leading in home runs. They are actually 20th, which is in the bottom half of the teams, and they are also 20th in payroll. Coincidence? Probably not. They are 2nd in runs and 2nd in hits. 5th in walks. 25th in strikeouts. 2nd in stolen bases, but 1st in caught stealing. Batting average, they are 2nd on base percentage, they are 2nd and OPS 10th and OPS 10th. You know who is 1st in batting average on base and hits? The Blue Jays. But where are the Blue Jays on base stealing? 27th. So as far as offensive production, they seem to have taken advantage of the 2023 MLB rule changes and converted back to the small ball type of game. This is also where their smaller payroll comes from. Typically, the most expensive guys on the team are pitchers and heavy hitters, so by relying on more of a small ball game, they've kept their payroll down. They are also 2nd in another key number, Speed. Only behind the Phillies, who are 9th in stolen bases. Their "200 club" motto, which means "F'n Relentless," is basically their offensive strategy. Get little hits, steal bases, get little hits to bring them home. They really are living up to their "200 club" motto. I'll try and break down their pitching staff in a later video, so subscribe if that's
